In addition to writing, award-winning author, Kwame Alexander has owned publishing companies and written for the stage and television. His book The Crossover was awarded the Newbery Medal in 2015.

Louis Sachar is the author of many wonderful stories for children and young adults. He published his first book, Sideways Stories from Wayside School, in 1978 and won the Newbery Medal in 1999 for his novel Holes.
